LAGAWE, Ifugao, May 22 (PIA) -- The Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) has released the final activities for the 47th founding anniversary of the province dubbed “Gotad ad Ifugao 2013” on June 16-21.

With the theme "Diverse Culture . . Unified People, Progressive future", the Gotad ad Ifugao(Grand Feast of the Ifugaos) will start with a thanksgiving mass and moral recovery rally on June 16.

The week-long festivity will be opened formally on June 17 with a street dancing and mascot contest, opening of agro-industrial-tourism promotion fair, Ifugao culture arts festival and search for “Bugan ya Wigan di Gotad (Search for the Mr. & Ms.) 2013” in which Claribelle Monchiguing and Wisley Wacguiyan took part of the event and as the representative of Mayoyao. As the coronation night is fast approaching as it was dated on the 20th of this June, each of the participants are preparing exerting all their efforts as they are practicing in all aspects of preparation.

Governor Eugene M. Balitang: Given the theme “Diverse Culture, Unified People, Progressive Future,” in your own way,how can you contribute to the progress of Ifugao?

Miss Mayoyao (Claribelle Monchiguing): I can contribute to the progress of Ifugao by atleast simply respecting others' culture or having this cultural sensitivity wherein I am aware of the culture of others and other people are aware also of my culture, and I am not going to impose my culture to other people and they’re not going to impose also their culture to me, for there is no culture that is superior over or inferior to other culture. We must unify this cultural diversity to have what they say unity in diversity in order to attain progress.
